From a press release issued by the City of SeaTac:
Starting Monday, June 27th, R.W. Scott Construction Company will begin a full road closure of South 154th Street from 32nd Avenue South to 24th Avenue South as part of the South 154th Street Improvements project. The closure is scheduled to continue until the end of July.
Traffic through the road closure area will be restricted to only emergency vehicles and local traffic that does not have an alternate route to their destination within the project limits. Through-traffic will be detoured to International Boulevard, South 144th Street, and 24th Avenue South.
This road closure is necessary to safely install underground utilities and lessen the duration of lane closures required for the project. The traveling public should expect delays related to construction activities and the City recommends that alternate routes be considered.
Appropriate notification, signing, and traffic control will be used to manage traffic through the detour route. Additional detour and project information can be found at: http://www.ci.seatac.wa.us/index.aspx?page=496.
The goal of the project is to improve traffic operations and increase the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Improvements include new sidewalks, curbs and gutters, storm drainage utilities, turn lanes, bike lanes, and relocating overhead utilities underground. The project is expected to be completed by early summer 2012.
