Earth Day events at North SeaTac Park last Saturday drew a group of enthusiastic volunteers who gathered to cleanup and care for our planet.
The Neighbors Without Borders Action Committee worked diligently to clean up the woods. The list of items they hauled out of the woods included 30 bags of garbage, 17 tires, a 50 gallon steel drum, a wheelbarrow, several air mattresses and car seats and a truck load of ivy and blackberry bushes.
Approximately ten trees were relieved of their struggle with the invasive Hedra Helix (English Ivy).
In addition to the woods cleanup, there were approximately 20 volunteers from the Seattle Rose Society, King County Iris Club, members of the Highline SeaTac Botanical Garden Board and other volunteers working in the botanical garden.
The City’s Senior Citizen Advisory Committee provided refreshments to all the volunteers.
